We are a family-run business with over 20 years of experience in hosting events for all ages and cultures. We can take care of your wedding day entirely, ensuring that you and your guests have an unforgettable experience. For private events such as birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special occasion, our venue provides the perfect setting. We can also accommodate corporate events, product launches, and end-of-year bespoke Christmas events.

Meet the Team

Our team at Tereza Joanne is led by Adrian and Michael Manyusa, twin brothers who were born in Malawi and moved to the UK at a young age. Adrian studied accounting and finance at the University of East London and took up his full-time position in 2000. He is an award-winning chef known for his unique fusion of flavors using exotic ingredients from around the world. Adrian also has a passion for interior design and upcycling, many of his projects can be seen on board the boat.

Michael also studied at the University of East London, obtaining a degree in business economics and finance. He joined Tereza Joanne in early 2000 and has been instrumental in organizing a wide range of events. Michael is a firm believer in corporate social responsibility and actively supports local initiatives and charities. He is a mentor to young BAME students and sits on the Newham Chamber of Commerce executive committee.

Marian Phillips, the matriarch of the family, studied for a Bachelor of Education at Whitelands Roehampton. She went straight into business with her husband Mervyn, and together they introduced watersports to London's East-end in the 80's. Marian was awarded businessperson of the year by the East London Chamber of Commerce in 2019.

Awards and Community Involvement

We are proud to support the local economy, utilizing local companies for our supplies and recruiting all our staff locally. We also host numerous local charities and rotary events, such as "Better Together" a shared lives scheme in Newham, and "Tawa Chillout" hosted by Helen Ayodele Sonoiki, a board member for the national charity "Domestic Violence UK" providing dedicated information and support from BAME communities fleeing abuse.

We also support a charity that is close to our hearts run by Adrian and Michael's stepmother in Malawi "Ellen Mai Guru Trust" which provides feeding programs and pre-school education in extremely poor rural communities in Malawi. (Charity No: 1161065)
