At Monks Withecombe, we pride ourselves on being a charming and picturesque wedding venue nestled within the Dartmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our unique venue is perfect for couples who are looking for a romantic and intimate setting to celebrate their special day.

Our History

The story of Monks Withecombe dates back to 1998 when Simon and Nicky Heyworth purchased the property. What was once an old granite farm, had fallen into disrepair, with creaking floors and collapsing roofs. Over the next three years, Nicky made thousands of cups of tea for Steve Gallimore and his brilliant team, who worked tirelessly to restore the beautiful granite farm buildings. Meanwhile, Nicky created the gardens, designing and making them from scratch. The process was not easy, as the team had to clear brambles and nettles, old barbed wire, and broken farm implements. Weeks of hard work followed, as they barrowed out endless loads of manure from the farm buildings. Finally, they were able to mark out the flower beds and seed the lawns. With the gardens almost complete, they planted hedges for shelter, trees for shade, and roses and shrubs to complete their "Heaven in a Garden".

From Dreams to Reality

It wasn't until 2010, when Nicky and Simon's daughter, Cressy, got married at Monks Withecombe, that they thought of opening their property as a wedding venue. After a fantastic and memorable day, the penny finally dropped, and they realized that their property was indeed "A fantastic place for a wedding!" Today, we Welcome couples to enjoy the beauty of our property and create unforgettable memories with their loved ones.

What We Offer

At Monks Withecombe, we offer a unique and serene setting for couples to celebrate their special day. Our venue is comprised of:

• The Gallery: A beautiful room with long views to Dartmoor, licensed for civil ceremonies, and seating up to 100 people.
• The Corn Barn: A larger space with huge windows on the east, west, and south sides, perfect for wedding breakfasts or receptions.
• The Garden: A stunning garden with hedges for shelter, trees for shade, and roses and shrubs to create a serene atmosphere.
• The Marquee Meadow: A picturesque meadow with a beautiful view to the west, perfect for outdoor ceremonies or receptions.

We encourage couples to put together their own day, choosing their own suppliers, catering, and decor. We are happy to provide excellent local contacts and support to ensure a seamless and memorable day.

• Power Supply: We have a dedicated 64amp power supply and a back-up generator for all your electrical needs.
• Secure Storage: We can take in and keep secure any deliveries during the week of your reception.
