Our Story

Field with a View Winchester is a unique event space located in the stunning South Downs National Park. Our story began when my husband Dave and I got married in 2016. We had a low-budget, DIY wedding reception in our 2.5-acre hay field, overlooking the city of Winchester and the beautiful South Downs National Park. We borrowed tents and marquees from friends and family, supplied kegs of beer and cider, and filled a couple of baths with ice for the wine and soft drinks. Our guests were encouraged to bring their favourite pudding and a bottle to add to the drinks supply. We set up games for everyone to enjoy, including table tennis, swingball, outdoor Jenga, and skittles.

After a lovely ceremony at the Registry Office on the Monday (Summer Solstice), we held a celebration party the following Saturday. We hired a local band for the evening, and they charged us for a "party" rather than a "wedding, " which would have been more expensive. We had an amazing time, and many guests commented on what a fantastic place it was for the celebration.

Our Field

We have decided to share our special field with you. You too can host your special party or gathering here. Our rate is 1500 for a long weekend, Thursday to Monday, which includes set-up and take-down of tents and equipment, as well as camping and clearing the field on the final two days. Please note that we are not a family campsite, but an events field. If you're looking for a family campsite, we recommend the nearby Holden Farm Campsite in the South Downs National Park.
