At Fern Photography, we are passionate about capturing the real story of two people's love and commitment to each other on their special day. Our aim is to create a unique and intimate photography experience that is tailored to each couple's individual style and preferences.

Our Story

Founded in 2011 by Dan and Matt, our journey began with a desire to create a more authentic and honest approach to wedding photography. We believed that the true essence of a wedding lay not in the grand gestures, but in the quiet moments of intimacy and connection between two people. Our early years were marked by unconventional weddings, many of which took place in the dark by firelight, but it was this authenticity that drew us to storytelling wedding photography.

As two individuals from different parts of the world who came together in Edinburgh, we shared a vision for creating wedding photographs that were real stories for real people. We were driven by a passion for capturing the essence of love and commitment, and a commitment to operating a business that was inclusive, open, and transparent.

Our Philosophy

We are also deeply committed to giving back and giving new photographers the opportunity to learn from us in a safe and supportive environment. We believe in paying the living wage for the work our trainees undertake and respect the choices other photographers make in style and presentation of their work.

With over 300 weddings under our belt and 11+ years of professional experience, we've honed our skills to ensure that our photographs and films are truly unique and memorable.

Sustainability

At Fern Photography, we're committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We endeavour to operate a paperless office, use low-power equipment, and make use of green energy suppliers. Where possible, we also endeavour to travel sustainably and car-pool to jobs.

Price and Selling

We believe in being open and transparent about our pricing. We charge based on the time spent working, material costs, travel, and distribution, and we're committed to providing excellent value for money. We're also happy to discuss alternative payment options, such as bartering, where possible.
