At Bury Lodge, we are a family-run hotel in Stansted, Essex, dedicated to providing a warm welcome to all our guests. Our hotel is a beautifully restored sixteenth-century barn, set in tranquil gardens, providing a serene and secluded environment for any occasion. Our Team

Our experienced twelve-person team, led by Teresa Higgins, our General Manager, has been instrumental in transforming Bury Lodge into one of the finest boutique hotels and events spaces in the South-East. Teresa, who has worked at Bury Lodge for over 22 years, has received numerous accolades for her dedication to the hotel, including being named Hotel Manager of the Year 2018 at the Influential Businesswoman Awards. Her daughter, Nikisha, also follows in her footsteps, having completed her apprenticeship at the hotel and receiving an NVQ Level 2 with Credit in Hospitality and Management.

Our History

Bury Lodge has a rich history, dating back to its original use as a water mill. Over the years, the property has been lovingly restored and converted into the beautiful hotel and events space it is today. Since Teresa Higgins took over as hotel manager in 2010, the hotel has continued to grow and expand its services, including the opening of its conference venue in 2018.

In the future, we plan to continue improving and expanding our services, with the opening of a new brasserie in 2025. This will provide our guests with an additional dining option, further enhancing their stay at Bury Lodge.
